How to win at Poker, and also how to lose…

One thing about playing sport is that it teaches you from a young age how to win and also, more importantly… how to accept defeat.  Nobody likes a poor loser that behaves badly as soon as they lose.  There are certain things that you do at the poker table and certain things that you don’t.

Learning how to win at poker, and also how to lose is very important poker etiquette!  It also helps to learn these tips if you want to be invited back to play poker again.  I was fortunate that I have played a lot of sport and had to learn the hard way at school.

I used to play a lot of tennis and was a brash youngster that hated losing… I have done some things on the court that I would never do now!  Only because one day I realized, whoa hold on buddy you can’t really do that.  So when it came to poker I applied some of what I have learnt from playing tennis.

Everyone wants to win, and just because you win graciously doesn’t mean that you are soft and you are not trying to go all out to win.  Lets face it in poker sometimes you can play your best game, to the best of your ability and still get beaten by a complete novice.  It happens in poker, so learn to deal with it and learn to lose.  Also when you take a huge pot, don’t rub it in and gloat at your opponent’s loss.

Just make sure you win more often or that you win the bigger pots!
